This is because there is a none existent and inefficient drainage facility. Water should be able to flow through the city and draining underground. You can collect and have more water to use. Abuja has a good underground drainage system so thinks like this are rare?

Lekki is not the only place that floods in Lagos. This is nothing compared to the mainland flooding. Global warming would bring more flooding across the world. We just have to live with flooding as a fact of life. Stop this Lekki bashing with flooding. Go to Abuja, go to Bayelsa, go to the mainland and go and see what they call flooding.

A rich man living in a poor infrastructure country is still a poor man, including African richest man, this shows that building sustainable cities go beyond aesthetic of paved roads and over inflated houses. The flooded water is clear and might have come from the ocean, this is the so called Lekki hence I am looking at Namibia and Botswana with well plan western infrastructures.

Most of the floods are as the result of inadequate drainage systems. Some parts of Lagos mainland is the best to have a house without the issue of floods during the raining season.

No drainage is the problem

The federal government/ Lagos State needs to build the Sea wall like Eko Atlantic in Lekki to stop flooding.

Lekki is one big dissaster. Sorry for fools who have wasted their money on properties in Lekki. It is said you can't cheat nature and if you try you will suffer. In Nigeria nature is abused by not so smart people. We don't allow forests and swamps to thrive, we cut them down and sand fill the swamps. When the rains arrive and there is no swamp to accomodate the excess water, then we start running up and down asking government to do something. The government can't do anything as they allowed these places to be wrongly occupied. If care is not taken and we don't reverse our stupid ideas Lagos will one day dissapear under the ocean.

Most countries the drainage goes under ground and is channeled through to a holding area. I do not see any drainage in sight .

Great drainage system is in place in Lagos, but due to the high level tides and rivers overflowing, there’s a pushback of water from these rivers. There’s little to be done really. 80% of houses are built on waterlogged lands. Lagos is water. Gotta start allowing these waters to start going through the oceans and nearby states.

In some places the water really seems clean enough for household chores: I'd try to keep some of that water if I lived there.

They should accept their fate o because they said they prefer an international airport to basic infrastructure,, no proper drainage system, just building match boxes all over the place, even where there are drainages they are often obstructed by money miss road landlords or blocked by dirty pigs throwing thrash all over the place 😢😢😢😢 I feel like walking in that water😂😂😂😂
